There it is, a poem by Jayne Cortez

And if we don't fight
if we don't resist
if we don't organize and unify and
get the power to control our own lives
Then we will wear
the exaggerated look of captivity
the stylized look of submission
the bizarre look of suicide
the dehumanized look of fear
and the decomposed look of repression
forever and ever and ever
And there it is.

Those are faces I see everyday - sometimes my own on a bad morning while I shave...

Poignant! She writes so powerfully, that I believe her words alone could overcome oppression. If only it were that easy...

Beautiful......a mantra and some.

BTW, I met with Rose et al, and she read me what she wrote of her meeting with you, which was wonderful, and we had a great time. You were right about her reading!
